Ogunquit, Maine

Just a few miles from Sea Mist is the popular seaside
town of Ogunquit, best known as a coastal artist colony. F rom
the quaint downtown village atmosphere to the beautiful coastline,
Ogunquit is known as “beautiful place by the sea.” Art galleries and
boutiques line the village streets and Perkin’s Cove, both are great for
browsing. Ogunquit has wonderful restaurants and some of the best
festivals from Patriots Day in April to OgunquitFest and Cappriccio in
the fall.
Ogunquit is host to unique attractions including the Ogunquit Museum of
American Art and the Ogunquit Playhouse – one of the last remaining
summer stock theaters that draws Hollywood and Broadway talent for
summer play productions.
Perkin’s Cove is one of the prettiest places in Maine, this charming
seaside village brims with cute shops, ice cream parlors, galleries and
great restaurants. You can also take a boat ride from Perkins
Cove
to go see lobsters being hauled and lighthouses, and legendary Boon
Island, or head out on a fishing charter. Perkin’s Cove is also a great
walking spot, you can follow Marginal Way for a mile all the way to
Ogunquit Beach and back on the most scenic coastal walkway.
You can’t mention Ogunquit with making note of the fantastic food. Some
of the best chefs have selected Ogunquit as their creative space and the
town is now a foodie capital in Maine. From gourmet coffee shops and
handmade candy stores to five course culinary experiences, Ogunquit is a
diner’s haven. From traditional Maine seafood, to sushi and steakhouses,
the culinary scene is thriving. And the evening piano bars and quaint
movie theatre make this town lively at night, by Maine standards.
